“DA Voices” is a recurring feature used to spotlight De Anza College’s diverse community voices. We ask the same question to different people and arrange their quotes so that readers can see varying points of view. This week, La Voz reporter Yogita Shuklan asked, “What is your New Year’s resolution?”

Ishan Mishara, 19, computer science major, said his New Year’s resolution was to stop procrastinating on what he needed to get done.
“I’ve done it (procrastinated) a lot before, in the last quarter,” Mishara said.

Sunny Das, 23, psychology major, said his New Year’s resolution was to get healthy.
“It’s a loose resolution,” Das said. “I didn’t set a specific goal, health-wise. I want to eat better and I want to work out a little bit more.”

Khushal Bansal, 36, a book seller, said one of his New Year’s resolutions is to go to bed early and wake up early.
“I feel I can do my meditation in a very nice way in the early morning,” Bansal said.

Summer Siaw, 22, business management major and international student, said her New Year’s resolution is to get accustomed to life in the United States.
“I just arrived here last month,” Siaw said. “ I want to be adapting to the new environment and make changes.”

Jim O’Brien, a supervisor at the Admissions and Records office, said he has two New Year’s resolutions.
“I am a transplant from the east coast, so my first resolution is to mostly fit into the life and culture out here,” O’Brien said. “It is wonderful out here (in California).”
O’Brien also said his second resolution was to “adopt a more healthy lifestyle.”“California really promotes more of a healthier lifestyle with biking, hiking and walking,” O’Brien said. “I am going to take advantage of that more out here.”

Evan Hartshorn, 21, mathematics major, said his New Year’s resolution was to settle into an everyday routine.
“I would like to have a consistent schedule where I can work at my school each and every day,” Hartshorn said. “That way, I can get results.”
