What happened: VP of Finance and College Services Jeanine Hawk gave a presentation to the Senate regarding the structural design and orientation of the proposed Mediated Learning Building, the construction of which is scheduled to commence next year south of the Flint Center parking structure. Senators also discussed site alternatives considered by the architects.
Why this matters: The MLB project will involve a significant landscape redesign of the area west of the library. Current proposals envision the development of a grass quad in that area. “The Learning Center West has kind of sat in the library’s shadow … we wanted to create an integrated space as part of a quad environment,” said Hawk.
