Another Saturday, another loss on the record as the De Anza College football team came up short against the City College of San Francisco Rams on Oct. 2.
Flags appeared multiple times as fouls and penalties happened like clockwork.
The Dons scored 3 points in the first half, while San Francisco saw themselves with a nice cushion of 35 points entering the second half of the game.
In the second half, the Dons had some promising opportunities to score, but were unable to get down the field.
A fumble by the Dons was picked up by Rams player Kenny Haynes for a 55 yard return and touchdown, making the game 42-3 with the Rams leading.
A referee’s timeout occurred after No. 53 for the Dons, Brad Ruiz, went down. He was able to walk off the field, but still appeared to be in a lot of pain.
The Dons put up a defense in the last quarter of the game, but the Rams still managed to break through. The Rams scored in the last few minutes, but missed the extra point. When the whistle blew, the final score was Rams winning 62-3.
The next game for the Dons will be an away game against West Hills on Oct. 16. The following week, Oct. 23, the Dons will be back at home playing against Diablo Valley.
