Howard Irwin, Dean of Counseling and Matriculation (the cheaters of De Anza are familiar with his wrath), dropped in to encourage students to come in to the counseling center and “get going” on their transfer planning process before the rush in November. Also, attend student services day in a few weeks – it will be a lot of fun (no specific date has yet been set for this event). John Swensson, VP of Instruction, reminded members of the Inter Club Council, whom he called “the leaders of the college,” to graduate from De Anza, even if planning to transfer. “It only requires a one-unit P.E. course, and you never know when an A.A. degree could help you.” He thanked the ICC for what it does, reminding us to wear our seat belts and stay off drugs. The ICC requested funds to replace a $287 broken CD player in the ICC PA System, and De Anza Circle K requested travel funds for a Circle K Conference in Sonora, CA on Nov. 2-4 for 13 students ($125 each). Both of these requests were approved, placing the ICC Club Budget at $13,595.00 and the ICC Travel Budget at $10,250.00. The ICC Budget Proposal Request for the following year (2008-09) was also agreed upon by vote, and it seems as healthy as this year’s.The Next ICC Agenda meeting falls on Monday at 1:30 PM.
