About $5,400 worth of Apple merchandise was stolen from the De Anza College Bookstore during the early hours of Monday, Dec. 24, 2012.
The college went on holiday starting Dec. 21, 2012. The burglar forced entry by breaking an office window near the loading dock on the east side of the bookstore.
The suspect stole all the Apple products from the open display, then shattered an octagonal glass display case by pushing it over.
Ipads, iMacs and MacBooks were stolen from Apple display. Only Apple products were taken, according Jeri Montgomery, bookstore manager.
But the intruder left the accessories in the display.
The bookstore is equipped with motion sensors, video surveillance and alarms that triggers upon unauthorized disturbances. But the burglar was not observed until later that day.
Authorities reviewed the bookstore’s surveillance footage, but could not identify the intruder. The police are following up on multiple leads and ruling out nothing.
The description of of the suspect and the bookstore’s security failures are unavailable.
Officer Ron Levine said, “Because this is an active investigation, I cannot reveal any additional details at this time.”
