The De Anza women’s volleyball team came up with a loss for the recordbooks in its
Wednesday night conference game against the Cabrillo Seahawks Oct. 3.
Despite an injury in the fi rst set, the Dons came out strong, but couldn’t pull ahead of
a 25-11 defeat in the fi rst set. Katherine Jaw (14) was marked as one of the go-to players
for the team, with Mishel Deemer (15) also contributing to the team’s effort.
Although the Seahawks coordination and teamwork won them a 25-7 victory in the
second set, De Anza was barely fazed and maintained a degree of team morale. Both
Sarah Wallace (13) and Semsa Selimovic (8) worked the line, making the opposing team
work for each point.
Coach Dawnis Guevara credits Cabrillo’s fi nal score of 25-14 to it being one of the
toughest teams to beat in the league. She said she is confi dent that with only a 5 and 8
season score behind them, the team will fi nd their footing.
