With Halloween just around the corner, you might still be looking for that perfect costume. So, for your safety, we put together a list of weird custom costume ideas to use (or avoid) this Oct. 31, depending on what kind of attention you want to draw.
Nudist on Strike: Cost about $2Here’s a bargain basement deal. Simply write “Nudist on Strike” on a piece of cardboard and wear it over your everyday clothing. This idea is simple, cheap and funny, but if it is done by the wrong person it could be very, very creepy.
Human Strip of Bacon: Costs about $40Everyone loves bacon as long as they can eat it, so if you’re going to impersonate the tastiest food on the planet, make sure you bring delicious bacon snacks for your friends. That’s about ten of those dollars already.
To make this costume, simply buy two body-length pieces of foam from your local hardware store.
Cut a hole for your face and then use spray glue or a hot glue gun to put the foam together leaving space for your body and holes on the sides for your arms.
Finally, spray paint the foam to make it look like bacon. For color reference, you could cook the real bacon you bought. Yum bacon!
Human Box of Wine: Costs about $30 Want to be the life of the party? Then be a giant box of wine. It couldn’t hurt the situation in the least.
But keep in mind, there are so many other alcohol related costume ideas, as well. Captain Morgan: The Most Interesting Man in the World or even a Breathalyzer test.
If you aren’t sure if being a box of wine will be a big hit, it would be a better to leave this on the drawing board.
Tanuki: Costs … a species change? This is, by far, one of the strangest costumes on the list. A Tanuki is a raccoon-like animal from Japanese folklore with extremely large testicles.
There is a children’s tune you could learn if you really wanted to play the part: “Tan Tan Tanuki no kintama wa, Kaze mo nai no ni, Bura bura,” which translates, “Tan-tan-tanuki’s testicles, there isn’t even any wind, but still go swing-swing-swing.” Many people recognize the Tanuki from Super Mario 3, but if your friends aren’t Japanese or video gamers this costume might be one to avoid.
