The Euphrat Museum of Art is currently holding an art exhibit comprised of art submitted by the art faculty and staff from both De Anza and Foothill Colleges. The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The De Anza Associated Student Body Senate gave funding for the crisp, white walls that provide a backdrop to the array of vibrant art work. Cozy and intimate, the exhibit contains a wealth of colors and mediums to fulfill the aesthetic eye.
Painting styles vary from abstract surrealism to sculptures and social commentary.
The eclectic and intensely emotional expressions in the art work provide a deeply personal glance into the artists’ world. Prakash Chandras has been on the art faculty of DeAnza for 16 years and has been an active participant of the Faculty/Staff Art Exhibit.
“Painting is really an experience. And not just an experience for me to create it, but also to the viewer. The painting transports your mind.” His paintings are usually of the various landscapes and cityscapes of California.
The Art Faculty/Staff exhibit is held every other year. This year, the exhibit was opened to the public on Nov. 14.
Many of the artists will be present at the open reception, which will be held on Nov. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibit will be open until Dec. 7
