California Community College campuses ranked second in the worldfor activism, according to the October issue of Mother JonesMagazine, beating out both UC Berkeley and Yale University, whichcame in at 9th and 10th respectively.
The spotlight was turned to the traditionally fragmented group ofcommunity college activists who gathered 14,000 protesters and cametogether in Sacramento to oppose a potential rise in tuitionfees.
The march worked, said Mother Jones, because Gov. Gray Davisrestored $245 million to the colleges and scaled back tuition costsby 50 percent.
