1. Enjoy freshman year. It only comes around once, for most.
2. People are here to help.

4. Put your money to use: go to class, study, visit teachers. You’re not a nerd for doing that goody two shoes stuff.
5. Take classes that interest you. If you’re here three years, it’s worth it.
6. Drink coffee.
7. If an 8:00 a.m. class is required for your major, change your major.
8. Study with friends.
9. You can know everything and fail a test.
10. Get a car.
11. Listen to others. Don’t just wait for your turn to talk.
12. You can know nothing and ace a test.
13. Listen for the bells because every clock on campus shows a different time.
14. Clever margin manipulation can turn a four page outline into a 100 page essay.
15. Follow your heart and discover your passion.
16. Have several places to study. If it’s a nice day, take those books outside. Sorry, the library isn’t the most intriguing place to study, but it can be a nice place for those last minute crams.
17. There are forty or so clubs here. Join one or start one. Student Activities is the place.
18. If you have to miss a couple of meetings to study, remember you can do that. Your studies are priority. Don’t forget why you’re here in the first place.
19. If you wear polyester everyone will ask, “Why are you so dressed up?”
20. Secure career-related activities such as independent studies, internships, student organization involvements, volunteer and community work, part-time and summer employment. Center for Career Opportunities (OTI) is the place.
21. If you were smart in high school, so what?
22. The only limits are those you set for yourself.
23. In a pinch, milk can be used as a beer substitute in your breakfast cereal.
