Welcome new students and welcome back returning students. Like in January when many of us worry about New Year’s resolutions, the beginning of the school year is a time when we, as students, set academic and personal goals to enrich our lives and help us compete with our peers. Yes, it is a jungle out there.
De Anza may seem chaotic when you first arrive. All those different campus clubs trying to recruit you or even bribe you to take an active part in college life. What are they thinking?
Club members know what it is like to be a new student. And they know what it’s like to get involved. Many of them, like many of you, are full-time students who spend countless hours on campus.
They encourage you to join them in making the most of your time here.
With over 40 (the numbers continue climbing) clubs on campus, you can track down one that appeals to your interests, whether they are politics, religion, community service, or wrestling.
Thursday, Oct. 12 is Club Day where many clubs will have candy, soda and even condoms to draw your attention to their tables.
It can be worthwhile to spend time meeting the people who work behind the scenes to keep campus diversity alive.
If you have any questions, visit Student Activities in the Campus Center, or call 408-864-8693.
