De Anza College students joined close to 1,000 demonstrators in San Jose to march in the annual May Day commemoration rally. Participants marched from King and Story Road in East San Jose to City Hall. Groups included local unions, workers, students and the cultural group of Calpulli Tonaleghqueh Aztec Dancers. Themed as “A Day Without the 99 percent,” this years May Day was also recognizing immigrant and international workers struggles in the United States. Traditionally, May Day or international workers day is celebrated in more than 80 countries since 1886, when protestors in Chicago went on strike for the eight-hour workday
