There are many outdoors people who love to go out and explore. Weather it be camping hiking or even horse back riding. If your one of these people, then there is a club that is waiting for you. The Outdoor Club has a wide spread of active choices for a student to do.Camping, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, bicycling, going horseback riding, caving and surfing, this club does it all. But unlike some clubs this club goes through the summer time. Even if you’re a beginning explorer, this club is right for you. The club fee is $15 for 365 days, and every club meeting is Fridays around 12:45 in S75,or at the pool deck.Sunday, June 10, 2007, 5:45 a.m. or earlier, they are volunteering at the Alcatraz Sharkfest. This event is a mile and a half or more to swim from Alcatraz to San Francisco. If your a life guard or not, people are needed in kayaks to help the cold swimmers or if the swimmers veer off course. Kayaking experience is necessary, and there are kayaking lessons at the De Anza pool.Sunday, June 24, 2006, volunteering at the Alcatri triathlon. This is also a mile and a half or more of a swim. It doesn’t matter is you’re a life guard or not.July 20 to 22 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday night) 2007, camping, hiking, kayaking at Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite. For this trip it’s a first come first serve sign up. There are a limited amount of kayaks to rent out. De Anza owned kayaks will be used. On Friday morning the club will go kayaking on Tenaya Lake, to go sight seeing while the sun rises.
