Of course U.S. is ready for a Mrs. President
May 4, 2015
America is definitely ready for a female president.
This topic has been around forever, and although most citizens pride themselves on being open-minded, that has not been apparent in our political decisions until the last presidential election in 2008 when Barack Obama, the first African-American president, was elected.
The closer we get to the 2016 elections and the more hyped people get about it, the more often you see the words “Is America Ready For a Female President?”. If you Google those words, you’ll be surprised at how outdated people’s ideas really are.
“On the positive side of gender achievement, the U.S. House is for the first time headed by a woman, San Franciscan Nancy Pelosi,” according to an article in SFGate.com. There are constant efforts to undermine her accomplishments, even though this congresswoman has been elected and re-elected four times in the last eight years.
When asked about America’s readiness in an interview with SALON Magazine, Pelosi said, “The American people are very, very ready for a woman president…because the people are far ahead, as I say, of the elected, on the subject of a woman being president.”
CNN News’ most recent poll, conducted on 2016 voters, showed without a doubt that our nation is ready for a woman in charge.
“Ninety percent of the people [we] polled say they would vote for a woman for president and 75 percent say a female president would be a good thing for the country,” according to CNN.
There has been more female involvement in politics as well as an increase in the effects of the feminist movement that started years ago. Nowadays, the idea of women being in the spotlight of the nation’s affairs is considerably less foreign than it was in 2008 when
Hillary Clinton first ran for the Democratic Party nomination.
Moreover, according to a Huffington Post poll originally conducted in January 2007 and taken again in March 2015, the majority of voters from all parties—yes, that includes the
Republican party—are now saying the U.S. is ready for a female president.
Yes, America is ready for a female president. America is ready for change—something new will be good for us.
