Stop by the California HistoryCenter this Thursday at 1:30 p.m.to witness the vivid watercolorpaintings of Chizuko Judy SugitaDe Queiroz.
The paintings on display werecreated as a reconstruction ofChizuko’s childhood spent ininternment camps.
Queiroz cites influencesfrom her travels to India, Japan,Mexico, and Europe. She has wonnumerous awards for her art andhas held exhibitions in LagunaBeach, Lido Isle, Newport Beach,the Japanese American NationalMuseum, the Japanese Gallery,the Fine Artists Factory and theOrange County Art AssociationGallery.
“My work is concerned withperception, memory, inspirationand interpretation, and also whatI’m feeling about the time, theplace, and the environment …painting is hard work and sheerjoy,” Queiroz says on her Web site.
The free event is sponsoredby the California History Centerand funding is provided by the DeAnza Student Body.
