DASB meets to approve budgets, forms new committee

The 2019-20 DASB budget was approved at the Feb. 13 senate meeting and a previous proposal to form an ad-hoc shared governance committee was resolved

“Finance committee has spent over 16 hours over the weekend to figure out a solid plan in terms of cuts and allocations,” said Rex Zhang ICC chairperson. “We really try to develop a set of principles.”

During the Feb. 6 meeting, senators did their first round of amends and approvals for the budget. Senators cut $2,000 from the legal advice program, and distributed the remaining money to Special Allocations, Environmental Sustainability Committee and the Flea Market.

On Feb. 13, the senate addressed future funding, and approved both budget plans for Fund 41 and 46. Fund 46, which consists of the student representation fees and Fund 41 which is the general fund for student services.

A vote to fund $1,400 for promotional shopping bags for the De Anza Flea Market was also passed. The bags will be a bright neon green color to support environmental sustainability, and include information about the Flea Market.
