A little-known treasure on De Anza’s campus resides in the SC3 building next to Parking Lot E. It provides a quiet, clean environment for students to study and work on their assignments.
Open for longer than the school’s library hours, the Science Resource Center welcomes every students of all majors to come in from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m.-to 3 p.m. on Friday.
When entering the center, students must sign in with their student ID number — the same protocol applies to signing out. Food and drinks are not allowed inside the center, but students are permitted to eat outside.
Alieva Gulzhan, the center’s instructional associate, has been in charge of the resource center for two years. She guides students in the directions they need and encourages them to use the materials provided.
The center supplies computers, skeleton models, microscopes, a printer and scientific books. Study group rooms are also accessible through reservations for up to two hours.
The Science Resource Center is here to enhance students’ learning experience and help them make the most of De Anza’s resources.
