Students, faculty and guests gathered to celebrate Nowruz, a 3,000-year-old Persian celebration of spring and the beginning of a new year for 300 million people around the world, in Conference Rooms A & B on Thursday, March 19.
The event featured interactive activities such as a Kahoot game that quizzed attendees about the history of Nowruz and performances including poetry, singing and dancing.
Farideh Dada, journalism instructor from Iran, recited a poem in Farsi, and communications instructor Anya Iyengar helped translate the poem in English.
Another notable component was the various song and dance performances by members of the Kyrgyz & Commonwealth of Independent States Students Association. Performers from KGIS wore traditional clothes and jewelry during the show.
