A crowd of excited fans wore yellow and orange clothing to match Louis Tomlinson’s new album’s aesthetic, “How Did I Get Here” in San Francisco on June 6.
Fans arrived to access wristbands through a lottery system but the staff struggled with organization, seemingly unprepared for the fanbase’s intensity.
As a result, fans waited nearly two hours under the sun to enter the auditorium.
The lottery system randomizes entry to the auditorium’s standing room, which prevents fans from camping onsite.
The official announcement said doors would open at 6 p.m. but was delayed until 6:30 p.m.
The Royston Club opened the concert along with a girlband called “The Aces” who set an energetic tone.
Tomlinson kicked off at 9 p.m. with “Lemonade” and the atmosphere exploded with screams that surely could be heard from outside the venue.
When Tomlinson sang “Dark To Light,” a tribute to the late Liam Payne, it created an emotional moment in rememberance of the One Direction bandmate.
Otherwise, the night was filled with laughter and joy as Tomlinson made conversation with fans about the posters they held.
He finished the concert with a jumpoff from the barricade which has become his tradition.
As Tomlinson leapt into the crowd he sang “Palaces” and gave nearby fans the chance to reach out to him and make contact with the star.
