The World Cup has transformed San Pedro Square into a global hub where fans from all over the Bay Area can cheer on their country since its first game on June 11.
The “Soccer Celebration” hosted by the San Jose Earthquakes has attracted supporters everyday to watch and cheer on their teams right in their own backyard. Fans brought noise makers, flags and celebrations for the competition’s excitement.
While Levi’s Stadium, temporarily renamed the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, only hosts six matches with the last one being on July 1, the watch party has shown every game since the tournament began on June 13, offering free access to view the matches, with many arriving hours early to get a good spot.
As the World Cup continues, San Pedro Square remains a central location where supporters can watch the games and experience the world’s biggest sporting event.
