Viva CalleSJ closed 6 miles of streets in San Jose’s Alum Rock neighborhood, allowing locals to walk, bike and roller-skate at its Eastside Quest event on April 19.
Attendees followed a designated route and stopped at pit stops, which included professional wrestling, BMX riding, rock climbing and arts and crafts stations.
The event also featured vendors, live music and food trucks at Cimarron Park, Mexican Heritage Plaza and Alum Rock Village.
The event also had bike repair stations and bike rentals for easier travel. Attendees stayed hydrated with water stations across the event.
According to Viva CalleSJ’s website, the city program promotes healthy and safe neighborhoods, clean air and community.
Its next event on June 14 spans from Japantown to the North Monterey neighborhood, shutting down parts of Market Street and Monterey Road.
