“DA Voices” is a recurring feature used to spotlight De Anza College’s diverse community voices. We ask the same question to different people and arrange their quotes so that readers can see varying points of view. This time, La Voz reporter Meryem Sezgin asked, “How do you prepare for finals?”

Sohyun Park, 19, electrical engineering major, said she pulls all-nighters ahead of her finals.
“I don’t study until the last day, then I study the whole day,” Park said.
Rana Arjumand, 18, business administration major, said she pressures herself into studying.
“I study by taking a lot of breaks, telling myself I have to get an A,” Arjumand said. “Then I gaslight myself (into) studying.”

Iris Wei, 18, biology major, said she refreshes herself on content from the rest of the year.
“I will go over all the previous exams and quizzes,” Wei said. “I will review all the notes my instructor provides.”

Dean Aleaf, 24, computer science major, didn’t tell La Voz how he prepares for finals.
“Why worry about the future when you can live in the present?” Aleaf said.

Kieryn Greylock, 19, international business major, said she takes her finals review slowly, focusing on digesting the content.
“I go through the material bit by bit in 30-minute time frames so I don’t overwhelm myself,” Greylock said. “I also reward myself with candy or energy drinks right after my final.”
