Socks this season are a must-have accessory. Not only can you wear them on your feet but also in your hair.
Sock buns have been around for a long time, mostly seen on ballet instructors and their students. Now you see them on women everywhere on campus, at the mall, on runways and on celebrities.
De Anza College student, America Naranjo, 20, second year, said, “I got inspired by doing the sock bun when I saw a girl on YouTube do a tutorial on it.”
Sock buns are a quick and easy way to a glamorous, polished look, and a great way to dress up or down an outfit. The only tools you need to achieve this look are a pair of scissors, a long sock, a hair tie, bobbing pins, and hair spray.
There are more than 3,000 videos on YouTube showing not only how to create a traditional sock bun, but also tutorials for all hair types, lengths and even how to create sock buns with braids.
Student Araceli Vazquez, 24, third year at De Anza, enjoys how quick and easy it is to make her sock bun.
“It literally took me about three minutes to do it and it looks like I spent 30 minutes on it,” Vazquez said. “The great thing about it is I can wear it with any outfit.”
According to Glamour Magazine, “The high bun can lift features, making it look smooth and not too done.” With a simple eyeliner and bold lip you’ll look done up in no time.
