Barry Smith, a founding teacher of De Anza College and an Accounting professor, died on March 24, 2008. He was 71.
He started teaching Accounting classes in 1965 and was retired in 1999.
“He was an outstanding teacher,” said colleague John Wanlass, who had known Smith for over 30 years. “He will be remembered fondly by all the faculty of De Anza.”
Smith also enjoyed dowsing and had served as a president of the American Dowser Association. “His mind was on a continuous quest for answers about the Universe and dowsing was his medium,” Wanlass said.
