Editor’s note: Video contains profanity.
To Mostafa Tabatabainejad, the UCLA student who was tasered last month by campus officers because of his refusal to leave the library: You got off easy with only five tasers.
If I were a student studying in the library at the time of the event, I would have liked to grab the cop’s taser and sting you four more times.
The first tasering would be for creating a disruption in a place designated for quiet time. You were asked to leave peacefully, but you did not.
Many, including yourself, argued that you were leaving, but all we can assume is from what we saw on the online video.Rules are rules. If you don’t have your student body card, you will be asked to leave. Your refusal to leave resulted in the confrontation with the police.
Then, Mostafa, I’d taser you again for the incredibly irrational political statement you made while resisting police.By stating, “Here’s your Patriot Act!” I question how you got into UCLA in the first place.
I’m sure John Lennon, Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. rolled over in their graves when they saw that Internet video of you being a raving lunatic but acting like a victim of discrimination. Mostafa, was the National Security Agency kicking you out? Nope.
So what does the police asking you to leave a library have to do with the Patriot Act? When did we miss the part where you became a martyr for our civil rights? That part must have come out too blurry in the video.
This was no “abuse of power,” as you loudly shrieked that night. Trained officers asked you to leave. From the video, the officers demanded about 94 times (give or take 10) for you to either “stand up” or “get up.”
Yet you refused and made your body limp so officers will have a difficult time escorting you out. On top of that, you threatened the cops, despite other reports saying your protest was peaceful. In a threatening tone, you told the officers, “Don’t touch me!” four times. You also told them to “F**k off!”The unneeded attention your incident brought forth is my numero tres reason for wanting to give you another good tasering. Iranian satellite channels broadcasted the incident and talk shows discussed the event at great length.
Many of the talk show hosts spoke about “racial profiling” and ineffective police practices. They called for the Iranian community to unite and stand up for this cause.
As an Iranian, I ask you to please sit down and don’t waste your time on a lost cause such as this.
If I had an opportunity to throw in one taser last shot, I would taser you in the testicles to make sure you don’t reproduce. People like you shouldn’t be trusted with raising children. Please, for the sake of our community, whether national or religious, don’t play the race card and make fools of us.Don’t scream about the Patriot Act or racial profiling and make all minorities look angry and defiant. Fox News already does that enough to us.
On the bright side, I hope your incident inspires the Foothill-De Anza District Police to hold a meeting to discuss the future tasering of De Anza College students.Knowing that we might have to take a little zap every now and then would be a good reminder to always keep our De Anza Associated Student Body card with us.
