    Ex-De Anza coach dies in auto accident

    Former De Anza College women’s basketball coach wasinvolved in a fatal car accident last Thursday night in Reno,Nevada.
    Mike Gervasoni, 59, was slammed by a pick-up truck on his left sideas he tried entering U.S. 395.
    Eric MacGill, driver of the pick-up, drove through a red-light andinstantly killed Gervasoni, pushing him into a dirt road. The caseis still under investigation.
    After practice, Gervasoni ran some errands before entering thefreeway, said friends. The De Anza community was shocked by thenews they received early Friday morning.
    Former center Amber Hall said she couldn’t believe whathappened. She was planning to join Gervasoni next year at theUniversity of Reno.
    Gervasoni left De Anza in 2003 after taking the assistant coachingjob under his wife, Kim.
    Gervasoni coached for De Anza for 14 years and is responsible forcreating a strong women’s program.
