Kevin Fagan retired San Francisco Chronicle journalist and author, discussed his book, “The Lost and the Found,” and shared advice for student journalists reporting on homelessness at the Associate Collegiate Press National College Media Conference in San Francisco on March 5.
Fagan encouraged journalists to approach vulnerable communities with empathy and genuine care.
“Lead with empathy,” Fagan said. “Really listen and really care, because when you don’t really care, they can tell.”
