La Voz Online has received a General Excellence award for online journalism by the Journalism Association of Community Colleges. The award was announced Friday during the opening night of the JACC state-wide conference in Sacramento.
Two other Bay Area community colleges also received the General Excellence award for their online newspapers. Ohlone College in Fremont received the award for their internet version of The Monitor, and City College of San Francisco was recognized for their efforts in producing The Guardsman Online.
The JACC conference, which took place between April 7-10 at Sacramento’s DoubleTree Hotel, brought together journalism students from community colleges throughout California. Students attended workshops dealing with various aspects of journalism, and participated in competitions throughout the weekend.
