De Anza College President Omar Torres speaks to the Academic Senate on Feb. 2 in the Media and Learning Center.
De Anza College President Omar Torres apologized at the Feb. 2 Academic Senate meeting for a previously proposed realignment plan that included merging the Intercultural and Social Science divisions together and moving World Languages to the Language Arts division.
“I want to apologize,” Torres said. “That put in particular two divisions (Social Sciences and Intercultural Studies)… at a very unfavorable position.”
Torres went on to say that any future discussion of a realignment will include all stakeholders from the very beginning instead of this previous way where the administration pitched the idea and tried shaping it from there.
