Behind me at the Santa Clara County Juvenile Center here in San Jose on Guadalupe Parkway, the 17-year-old suspect in the Valley Fair Black Friday shooting is currently being named only as CD. It was announced at a juvenile hearing today that he will remain in custody until at least Dec. 15, when they will reevaluate his case. Now this is important because the judge determined that his parents were not able to provide a safe environment for him, and he has currently been charged with attempted murder.
Now as of right now it is currently unclear whether or not the suspect will be charged as an adult. Because of his age at 17, the judge will be making a decision.
A follow-up hearing will be held on Dec. 15 at 1:30 p.m. in Department 80 at the Santa Clara County Juvenile Center.
