GSA does time warp again

The Gay straight alliance took a step to the right by bringing the infamous transsexual from Transylvania to Conference Room B Thursday night for the first GSA movie night featuring “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”.

Co-Presidents Chelsi Konsella, 19, and Colleen McEachern, 19, hosted the evening and provided popcorn, candy, soda and themed attire consisting of wigs and revealing outfits.

In live “Rocky Horror Show” tradition, the audience participates by yelling out scripted audience ejaculations during the scenes of the cult classic. Those attending sprayed each other with squirt bottles during Janet and Brad’s entrance into the pouring rain before their alien encounter. The audience jumped up in anticipation to take a jump to the left and a step to the right.  A couple of audience members Martin Finger, 28, Katie Harlan, 20 and Kevin Harlan, 17, even brought rice to the showing for the opening marriage scene.

“Don’t dream it, be it,” Nicholas Johnson, 27, recites the films memorable quote.

The event was a success says McEachern. GSA thought the film was fitting for Halloween and GSA with the subtle references to the gay community.

“It was fun and awesome and entertaining,” Joan Leigh Pascua, 19 says.

“It was a movie that is sort of impossible to not have fun with,” Gretta Sanches, 19, says.

Students will have to wait until later in the month for GSA’s next event on Nov. 18, when they will be showing the film “Normal” for transgender remembrance.
