Hundreds of San Jose residents joined the crowd on Feb. 26 for Blick Art Material’s grand opening.

The new store is located at 3430 Stevens Creek Blvd. in San Jose; this will be Blick’s first store in the South Bay.

Customers stood in a line that carried out the door to get their art supplies on Thursday. A few booths were set up along a line for the prize wheel so that customers can familiarize themselves with different departments within the store.

At a table nestled by one of the store’s windows, Cartoonist Chip Sullivan demonstrated the store’s inks and pens. Around the corner from Chip, the framing department doubled as a customer service station for those with more questions.

At the end of the line, Blick’s associates were handing out paints, paint brushes and totes to those who took a spin at the wheel.

In the back of the store illustrator, Joie Creative was drawing customers in a hip photo booth style frame. More people were coming in as the celebration continued and there was still plenty to check out.
