With the end of October around the corner, it’s time to make plans for Halloween. Here’s some ideas for simple do-it-yourself costumes.

Edward Scissorhands

If you’re looking to get into the Halloween spirit,  nothing is more scary than Edward Scissorhands.
This costume is simple to come up with, and you can find similar pieces of clothing in your closet to put together and save money.
Find a white button-up collared shirt or a plain white T-shirt. Throw on suspenders, black pants and black shoes. White and black makeup can be found at the Halloween Spirit store for cheap.
You want to look really pale for this character, so put white makeup all over your face and neck.
Next, take the black makeup and draw dark circles around the eyes to create a weary look, and lightly touch the lips.
Finish with two or three pairs of scissors that can be found at the dollar store. You’ll need to take them apart and tape together like the wolverine claws the main character of X-Men has. Make sure to secure them around your hands with black tape.
Voila, you’re ready to go for Halloween.

Minions

These little cute characters from the movie “Despicable Me” are most likely the easiest idea for a do-it-yourself costume.
Your main outfit will consist of a yellow shirt, blue jean overalls, black shoes and circle glasses.  Now people should know right off the bat what costume you’re wearing, but just in case they don’t, carry a vampire minion around with you.

Scarecrow

Putting together a scarecrow costume needs a little more work, time and creativity.
Find an old dress and other clothes you can ruin. You will also need hay that can be found at the Michael’s Arts and Crafts store.
Start with cutting pieces of fabric and hot gluing them on your dress.
After that, take small pieces of hay and hot glue them in a bundle. Make sure to put hay beneath the patches to give it a more realistic look as if they are coming out of the pockets.
You can also take leftover fabric to make a small hat and add hay around the outside.
To complete your look, grab some orange makeup and pat it around your nose.
