The De Anza College Mountain Lions lost to the visiting Folsom Lake College Eagles 13-1, adding to its overall losing record 2-10 on Feb. 20.
The Mountain Lions’ offense only had three hits and the team committed four errors on defense.
“We’re in a hole right now,” first baseman Keanu Hennings (De Anza No. 17) 20, kinesiology major, said. “We just need that one game to push us over the edge and then hopefully we just roll from there.”
The Eagles struck first in the first inning with a solo homerun from shortstop Connor Barth (Folsom Lake No. 1).
The Mountain Lions followed up in the bottom of the first with a sacrifice fly from Hennings, tying the game 1-1.
De Anza’s offense would not score for the remainder of the game.

Folsom Lake scored in the top of the third inning and did not look back, scoring 12 unanswered runs.
It was a bullpen game for both sides as the Eagles used a new pitcher every inning, with De Anza burning through six in the game.
“I was ready to go whenever coach (Head Coach Don Watkins) needed me to,” relief pitcher Tommy Castro, 19, business major (De Anza No. 20), said.
Castro entered in the top of the fifth inning and pitched three innings, exiting with three strikeouts.
“I feel like all my stuff was working and (Assistant Coach Jack) Calloway called a great game,” Castro said.
Although the team moves to a 2-10 overall record, conference games have not started.
“We’re playing with a young group of players and they don’t realize what our conference looks like,” Hennings said. “The arms that we’re facing and everything like that.”
Hennings is confident that the Mountain Lions will be ready for its first conference game against the Skyline College Trojans on March 10.
The team has seven games between its Folsom Lake matchup and its three-game series against the Trojans, who have an 11-3 record so far.
“Hopefully we win a couple games before conference, then take it from there,” Hennings said.
