The Mountain Lions were down 6-0 entering the bottom half of the seventh inning. A five-run seventh inning would help get them back into the game, where they would score two runs off back to back bases loaded walks.
With the bases loaded and two outs, infielder Kailan Chao (De Anza No. 10) hit the ball on the ground to the Seahawks’ third baseman, but it went under the glove. Two runs came in to score, cutting the lead to 6-4.

The Seahawks scored again in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Seahawks put pressure on the Mountain Lions in the top of the eighth inning. A Seahawks runner stole second base but the throw from catcher Jordan Maske (De Anza No. 23), 19, communications major, was off as it went into center field.

The center fielder Kurt Beckamann (De Anza No. 20) would then throw the ball to third base trying to get the runner out at third, but the ball is thrown into the Seahawks dugout, leading to an advancement of the runner which would score the run.
In the ninth inning, a tough error was given to first baseman Myles Potter (De Anza No. 26), 20, criminal justice major, as a ball was hit hard to him but hit off his glove, That runner would then score later in the inning off a single extending Cabrillo’s lead to 8-5.
De Anza attempted to get a late rally going in the bottom of the ninth inning as Chao and Marin were able to get on base via a walk and a hit by pitch. Maske followed up with a single and looked towards the dugout, yelling to get some energy going.
The Mountain Lions were able to get one run in the ninth inning from a passed ball from the Seahawks catcher, but ultimately lost 8-6.` `
“We made some things happen, but it just ended up being a little short,” Maske said.
