Ten minutes later, the score was 10-10 and CCSF started to outplay De Anza. The Dons lost the second set 25-20.

In the third set, De Anza struck down on CCSF and won cheers from spectators.

At the beginning, CCSF was ahead 9-1. After a quick rest, De Anza had a change of pace.

The Dons’ score started to climb from 1 to 10, which later tied CCSF 10-10. De Anza then surpassed CCSF and regained the lead, winning the third set 25-18.

“I think De Anza played really well,’’ said Marco Rivera, a fan who came to support De Anza.

“They played phenomenal,” said Jila Malek, De Anza’s assistant coach. “We had mental toughness when we had a low score, but our strength was pulling out of the gutter and coming together as a team.’’
