On Feb. 2 the Foothill-De Anza Community College District Board of Trustees meeting announced a 5% Safeway discount for students enrolled in either college.
Scott Olsen, a client system specialist for the district, explained how the discount will work and how it will benefit students.
“You have to have the Safeway app. You need either your student ID, current class schedule, tuition receipt, or a current transcript,” Olsen said. “The ultimate thing is supporting basic needs. If I can help somebody save, that does something.”
Jessenia Martinez, 34, psychology major, said she thinks the discount is a great idea and plans to take advantage of it, especially when purchasing items such as eggs and milk.
“Safeway is very accessible,” Martinez said. “I live right next to one, so I shop there all the time.”
