DA Voices – ‘What did you do over spring break?’

“DA Voices” is a recurring feature used to spotlight De Anza College’s diverse community voices. We ask the same question to different people and arrange their quotes so that readers can see varying points of view. Today, our reporters Danielius Maslovskis and Taly Shenhar asked, “What did you do over spring break?”

Ryan Atristain, 20, a history major, said that he spent most of his week “just working” at the Nordstrom located at Westfield Valley Fair, fulfilling orders.

David Peck, 19, a mechanical engineering major, said that he spent most of his break “mountain biking near Russian Ridge on highway nine” and playing Valorant with friends.

Dua Akio, 18, a psychology major, said she spent most of the break preparing for her move from Dubai to the United States, stating that she had arrived right before the first week of the Spring quarter and that “everything is near and quiet.”

“It’s so easy to get around (the Cupertino area,)” Akio said.

Youssef Roshdy, 19, a biology major, said he spent most of his break catching up on sleep; Roshdy said he took an organic chemistry class the previous quarter.

Roshdy also added that he finally hiked for the first time near Milpitas and went swimming in the rain.

Shiven Dave, 19, an aerospace major, said that he spent his spring break taking his mother, who recently visited from India, around San Francisco and Vallejo.

Dave said he was busy thanks to a late final, so his break wasn’t as long as he hoped it would be.

Gauranch Thapar, 20, a computer science major said that over the break he did lots of miscellaneous activities.

Thapar also said that he drove his mother around places that she wanted to visit and also brushed up on his guitar skills. Thapar said he enjoys playing his guitar in the Hinson Campus Center whenever he has free time.
