2015 De Anza student-athlete transfer destinations

De Anza College athletics has received 23 scholarship offers for their student-athletes this year from 19 universities across the country.

Baseball player T.J. Conroy said he plans to attend Austin Peay State University in Tennessee where he will continue his baseball career.

“I’ve always wanted to play college baseball at the D1 level. Now I’m getting the chance to,” Conroy said. “My dream is
coming true.”

Football player Isaiah Hardy signed with Missouri Science & Technology University and plans to play cornerback in the fall.
Hardy said he plans to pursue football as a career.

“Missouri S&T does a good job of getting their players into the NFL, especially at my position,” he said.

Soccer player Rajaee Davis will be attending Chico State in the fall, where he will play forward for the men’s soccer team.

“Being recruited as a student-athlete is very stressful,” Davis said. “They are looking for great guys to come and impact the team and help them win.”

Davis’ advice to student-athletes planning to be recruited is to set a goal and have a good season.

“No matter what school comes to you, that doesn’t determine how good of a player you are,” Davis said. “At the end of the day, if you make the most of the opportunity you’re given, the sky is the limit.”

Track and field athlete Antarpreet Dhariwal agreed to attend Menlo College on a track and field scholarship where she will
continue running.

Dhariwal said she’s ecstatic and feels really blessed.

The transferring student-athletes mentioned their appreciation for the athletic staff and trainers at De Anza.

“Coach Raich noticed the drive and passion I have for the game,” Conroy said. “He contacted a few coaches from different schools.”

Davis said his experience at De Anza College was incredible as well.

“Being under coach Rusty for four years now, I’ve learned a lot from him,” Davis said. “I always make sure to thank the trainers for keeping myself and the team healthy for our next game.”

Hardy said he is blessed to have such a great coaching staff as well as teammates who pushed him to do his best.

“My position coach [Malik] gave me a chance to play at a position that I have never played before,” Hardy said. “It got me to where I am today.”

Dhariwal said that she wouldn’t be the person she is today without coach [Nick Mattis].

“I wouldn’t even be running if it wasn’t for him,” Dhariwal said. “He taught me to be strong, how to be more disciplined, and not leave room for excuses.”
