    A rare beauty: the transit of Venus

    “It was beautiful,” said Eric Peterson, astronomy professor at De Anza College, who briefly watched the rare moment of the “twin planet” passing in between Earth and the sun on June 5.

    Geology professor Marek Cichanski set up the telescope for curious eyes on campus before the sun disappeared for the day, and also talked about the event. 

    It was the last occurence this lifetime, as the next one won’t come until December 2117.
