    JIF celebrates Israel’s 61 years

The Jews, Israeli, and Friends Club at De Anza College held a two-day event to celebrate Israeli Independence Day.

The club set up five tables in the main quad on May 4, each offering a different selection for students passing by.

The tables on one side of the quad offered arts and crafts activities where people got the chance to make a necklace with their name written in Hebrew. Another table offered free food and coffee.

Across the quad were three tables to educate people about Israel along with its contribution to the development of science and technology.

Another table was set up for students to write prayers and wishes that will be sent to the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

On the second day of the event, May 6, the celebration was moved to the Hinson Campus patio, where the band Blind Faith, consisting of JIF members, performed cover versions of several American and Israeli songs, along with two original songs.

JIF holds an Israeli Independence Day celebration every year.
