Computer and video games today have no variety – Every other game either has a magic wand and sword or an over sized gun that makes everything explode like a crude “Rambo” movie. But what ever happened to giant robots – the true weapons of mass destruction? “Armored Core 4,” for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, puts the player in a 50-story customizable robot called an Armored Core along with hundreds of weapons that can level town in minutes. Unlike the previous installments, Armored Core 4 allows the player to use fly and make quick maneuvers with your AC’s boosters for longer periods of time, allowing better agility and game play. There are literally thousands of combinations for your AC. Choose from a variety of weapons that are the size of cars and houses. Change your arms, legs, core, and head for better armor. Upgrade your radar for better targeting and range. Unfortunately, the story line suffers from the lack of interest. There is hardly anything in the plot to convince you that you are under any real threat and the only thing moving the story along the narration after each mission. The game can also get repetitive. The missions either have you blowing up something or defending something over and over again. The game is not great, but it’s not bad either. It’s nice to get away from the average “World of Warcraft” or “Halo” related games. If you are an Armored Core fan already, then I suggest you pick up the game as soon as possible. If not, wait a few more month until the price drops down.
