The De Anza Lady Dons swimmers came into the meet against West Valley College short-handed, but looking to upset their cross-town rival. Led by Sophomore Elsa Brum and first-year student Monica Krauth, the Lady Dons gave all they had on Friday against West Valley.
Brum finished first in the 1000 yard freestyle and second in the 500 yard freestyle. Krauth finished second in the 100 yard individual medley and first in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Sophomore Meghan Storm, Krauth, Brum, and sophomore Casey Roessler finished first in the 200-yard medley relay. The Lady Dons came up short however, losing to the Vikings 58-41.
According to one De Anza swimmer, the West Valley Vikings were a tough team, and she thought that they performed to their best ability.
Coach Pete Raykovich stated that the swimmers gave it their all, and he hopes that at the conference championships the Dons will succeed. The Dons swimmers head into the championships looking to beat their personal records and have fun.
The conference championships will be held at Ohlone College starting this Thursday April 27.
