    Falter on front nine holes

The De Anza Dons golf team suffered an antagonizing loss on Monday to Foothill College.

Number 1 golfer, Brian Kavanaugh shot a poor front nine, leading him to a final score of 86, 14 strokes off of par for the course.

Number 2 golfer, Mike Rubino struugled a bit on the front as well, but regained some strokes throughout the back nine, eventually shooting a decent 79, the best score for De Anza.

Foothill’s win was sturdy with a stellar performance by their Number 3 player, Adan Levin, who shot 73.

Rubino and Kavanaugh, sophomores at De Anza both have a chance to qualify for the Nor-Cal championships.

De Anza’s 5-point loss (416-411), was a tough one to lose.

The format of team scoring throws out the worst score from each team.

If the scores were based on all six golfers’ scores, De Anza would have won by one point.

Coach John Kusek- “We should have beat Foothill, we could have.”

The Front Nine of the 18 hole Los Altos Country Club course proved to be tough, as the Dons faltered on those holes.

The Dons are preparing for the Confer-ence championships on April 25 at Rancho Canada.
