Never had I found a club for me. Furthermore, I did not see the value of joining a club. Between full time employment and part time school (some quarters vice versa) I was under the impression that clubs were for the well funded and full time students.
Last winter I discovered a club that peaked my interest. The MCPC (Music Composition Performance Collation). This fledgling club seeks to provide a platform for musicians in the De Anza community to be heard. Being a guitarist and singer for the past six years and not currently in a band I jumped at the opportunity to get involved.
I just recently resigned as president of that club to pursue what I hope will be a powerful vehicle in bringing De Anza clubs to a new level of enthusiasm. I think the ICC Programs office is paramount in this process.
I plan to be in the forefront of drives and campus activities, to help create a sense of civic duty coupled with and inspired by a deep sense of school pride. The De Anza student body has well organized trail blazers who have made available a platform for everyone to be heard. Most importantly the student body is empowered through groups of seemingly inexhaustible students known as clubs.
