Over 10,000 demonstrators filled St. James Park in downtown San Jose to protest against President Donald Trump on March 28.
“We should be protesting everywhere,” San Jose resident William Weyer said. “This is a crisis in the United States and for democracy. We cannot have a dictator in our office.”
The third “No Kings” protest was organized by 50501 and local community organizations such as Community Service Organization San Jose, SEIU Local 2015, San Jose Against War and Silicon Valley Rising Action joined in.
“Protesting is very good and a great way to get involved in your community and to help out,” anonymous advocate and influencer Batman of San Jose said. “I think we need more to get involved in local community organisations.”
Uriel Magdaleno, chair of Community Service Organization San Jose and co-chair of Legalization for All Networks, said the turnout reflects strong local engagement.
“We always see No Kings coming out with huge amount of attendance from San Jose residents,” Magdaleno said. “Especially here (in downtown).”
