The new playground for the Child Development Center is expected to be completed Nov. 19, according to Letha Jeanpierre, vice president of Finance and Educational Resources.
In addition to the playground, solar panels will be installed in parking lots A and B. Construction for the solar panels is scheduled to start in the summer of 2011. Throughout the construction, both lots will be closed.
The impact of the construction has raised concerns for De Anza College’s monthly Flea Market, which is primarily held in the two lots.
“The college is working with the contractor to allow access to the Flea Market and to cause as minimal disruption as possible,” Jeanpierre said.
New campus-wide underground water and electricity systems are also under construction. The new utilities will feature pre-insulated pipes, allowing maintenance employees to identify the location of leaks as soon as they occur.
These upgrades to the campus are the result of Measure C, a $490.8 million bond for facility development and technological improvements.
