Movie on the lawn: Students stay warm for an outdoor screening of “Inside Out”
November 14, 2015
De Anza Associated Student Senate hosted an outdoor movie night, featuring the Pixar film, “Inside Out”, on Nov. 5.
The screening was held in the S Quad and was shown on a 16-by-16 inflatable projector screen. Hundreds of students came out with blankets, lawn chairs, and even some tents to watch the movie and enjoy free hot chocolate and pizza.
“Originally, we were expecting 150 but there are well over 250 in attendance tonight,” said Hanh Bui, vice chair of the diversity and events committee.
Movie nights like this are held quarterly by the Senate.
However, the “Inside Out” screening was the first to be held outdoors and projected on the 16-by-16 inflatable, possibly increasing the turnout for many students.
“We are trying a lot of new things at different locations this year,” said Hiyochika Ishikawa, economics major, who helped organize the event.
“It was fun, the movie was good but the pizza and hot chocolate were my favorite part. I will most likely come to the next one when they have it,” said Fan Mason, computer science major.
Although the next outdoor film screening is not yet scheduled, the senate said they plans to hold more screenings like this in the near future.
