De Anza College men’s soccer team was undefeated after their seventh game on Friday Oct. 4.
De Anza won 6-0 against Ohlone College with goals from Rainer Plantinos and Diego Medina. Rajaee DeLane and Zaid Abuabed contributed two
goals each.
Throughout the game, De Anza controlled the ball and defended well.
After five minutes on the field, De Anza scored the first goal.
They ended the first half with a score of 3-0.
“I think it went as well as it could have, our forwards finished well,” said Evan Leedeman, 20.
The team is now preparing for their upcoming game against Hartnell, a challenging opponent.
“We want to continue the momentum and keep doing what we’ve been doing,” said Sean
Lyons.
“They’re within our conference and our league,” said Coach Boheet Sen.
“Going in there has never been easy and we don’t expect it to be this time either,” Sen added.
To prepare for the next game, DeLane said that they need to “stay focused, be mentally tuned in and sharp, and make sure we have a great training session.”
Despite being undefeated so far, it is important to remain strong and maintain the same level of preparation.
“We just need to stay focused, we can’t lose our heads just because we’ve had a few wins,” Leedman said.
“We should treat every game like it’s our final, hopefully we remain undefeated,” added Abuabed, who just returned from playing for the Jordan national soccer team.
“I think they have a great coach, so far they’re doing great,” said Omar Owad, 19, who was there to support his friend and former school.
“They were better than the other team.”
