Cabrillo beat Dons in three-game match1 min read

The Dons volleyball team fell in their second to last game against Cabrillo College on Nov. 11, losing in a three-set battle.

In the first match, Cabrillo came out firing, gaining an early 3-0 lead against De Anza. The Dons were able to catch up with kills made by Katherine Ja, Semsa Selimovic and Patsy Gregory. Amanda Daysog saved the ball with three digs in the first frame. However, it was the Cabrillo Seahawks who took the set with a score of 25-14. 

The Seahawks did not allow the Dons to get into a rhythm during the second set. Cabrillo took the game 25-13 to complete the second sweep.

The third set became a thrilling match that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. De Anza began with a 4-0 lead against the Seahawks. Kills were made by Ja, Tylyn Santos and two by Kandyss Keith. After a time out, the Seahawks came back, holding a 12-12 tie. The teams played head to head in a close game. In the end it was the Seahawks who took the two-point 25-23 set victory. 

Santos, commented on the games, saying, “We played with a lot of passion tonight. Next game we hope to have fun, play our hardest, go all out and finish  the season with a bang.”
